    • Career spanning 30 years in finance, taking on executive roles such as chairman, CEO and board member.
    • Magnus, leading as a chairman, built up the world’s largest plastic roto moulding company by implementing the buy and build strategy.
    • Success in renewable energy investments, notably achieving more than 400% ROIC on an acquisition of one of the world’s largest geothermal drilling company.
    • Orchestrated major deals, including chairing the Enex China agreement for the world’s largest geothermal district heating company.
    • He has been instrumental building up various kind of businesses based on the buy and build strategy, among other things, in Europe, the U.S. and Asia.

Gudmundur Thoroddsson

  • Financial & Business
    • Gudmundur has 30+ years of experience in energy & utilities. Gudmundur previously held positions such as CEO of Reykjavik Geothermal, CEO of Orkuveita Reykjavíkur, Chairman of Iceland Drilling, and Board Member of Enex and Enex China.
    • During his carrier as CEO he strongly supported new areas in geothermal development, such as very deep drilling, new drilling technologies and RD support to universities.
    • Gudmundur is among a handful of CEOs in the world who succeeded in commissioning annually 50-100 MW of new geothermal power. This unique success rate can largely be attributed to his thorough understanding of the geothermal value chain.
    • Gudmundur is currently Chairman and Managing Director and CTO of Taqa Geothermal SA.
  • Education

    Gudmundur holds an M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from DTU in Denmark an MBA from University of Wisconsin in Madison, and  a BSch in Mechanical Engineering from University of Iceland.

    • Previously spent 27 years working for Credit Suisse in London in various roles, mainly as a Senior Associate in a team managing over $2 billion of assets for UHNW entrepreneurs, business owners and institutions.
